In 2023 a childhood dream came true for Michael by opening his own record store in Wiedenbrück – a rarity in the district of Gütersloh and surrounding areas. In addition to a large variety of products, the Sound Store is also known for its beautiful in-store concerts. and several pop-ups at festivals and record fairs all over Germany. In the end of November 2025 the Sound Store won the "EMIL_ award", which honors record stores as important social and community spaces. In the category "outstanding record store – newly founded", the store won against 200 other participants.
