SWEDEN'S CRATE HISTORY

Stockholm keeps Nordic pop's deepest crate.

Stockholm's record scene runs on Södermalm and Vasastan. Pet Sounds anchors Skånegatan; Snickars, Bengans and Runt Runt fill in around. The Swedish pop and prog catalogue (a large chunk of it pressed at home) means second-hand stock is unusually deep for a city of this size.

Prices are Swedish, but so is the quality control. Pallas Group's pressing arm still runs here, keeping the local pipeline alive. Trädgården and Under Bron handle the summer nights.

THE FIVE ROOMS

01Pet Sounds
Södermalm

53 Skånegatan. The city's flagship indie — in-stores, new releases, curated second-hand. The Stockholm anchor.

02Snickars Records
Södermalm

Deep second-hand jazz, soul, funk, Swedish folk — the collector's counter in the city.

03Bengans Skivbutik
Central

The generalist — new releases, second-hand, everything from prog to K-pop. The default first stop.

04Runt Runt Records
Södermalm

Small, sharp, resident-DJ counter — house, techno, disco, edits.

05Sound Pollution
Central

Metal, punk, hardcore — the specialist counter for heavy Nordic catalogue and imports.
