THE 2 RECORD SHOPS
Shanghai runs the country's fastest-growing scene.
Shanghai is the centre of China's vinyl revival. The scene clusters around the former French Concession and Xuhui — small, curated shops trading in international jazz, electronic, reissued Chinese pop and Cantopop rarities. Uptown Records Shanghai anchors it; Daily Vinyl and a handful of listening bars fill in around.
The market is young but serious. Prices for Western pressings can be higher than Europe or Japan; local Chinese pop and jazz reissues are the value play. Expect the shape of the scene to change every year — it's growing that quickly.

Local label + shop — Chinese folk, jazz reissues, contemporary Mandarin pressings.
