Minneapolis remains one of America's most under-rated dig cities.
Minneapolis is Prince's city and the Twin Cities carry his cultural footprint everywhere — but the record scene is bigger than that. Electric Fetus (since 1968), Hymie's, Cheapo Discs, Extreme Noise and Treehouse form a network of shops that keep the Midwest's most under-covered dig alive.
The strength is Twin Cities funk, indie (Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, Prince), hardcore, and a serious second-hand jazz catalogue. First Avenue still runs the nightlife. Compact, walkable in the core, and one of the friendliest scenes in the US.
THE FIVE ROOMS

Deep second-hand — rock, jazz, soul, folk. The neighbourhood shop that other cities wish they had.
