THE MAP
Every vinyl destination inside the greater Kyoto footprint. Zoom in to see individual venues.
Kyoto rewards patience over speed.
Kyoto's record scene is small, walkable and deeply specialised. A handful of essential shops cluster around Shijo, Kawaramachi and the university district — Jet Set (which grew out of Kyoto into an international label), Meditations, Workshop Records, and the beloved 100000t alonetoco (a shop and label run by Toco).
The dig here leans toward jazz kissa culture, ambient, minimal, Japanese folk and audiophile pressings. It's the counterweight to Osaka's crate-heavy energy — you come here to slow down, listen, and pick fewer records with more care.

Ambient, minimal, experimental. A tiny room that's shaped the way outsiders hear Japanese underground music.
Second-hand deep cuts — jazz, folk, soundtracks — priced honestly and curated by a lifer.
Shop, label, and small event room. Left-field pop, folk, ambient — the room that defines Kyoto's tone.
