THE 41 RECORD SHOPS
Hamburg has always dug quietly and hard.
Hamburg is Germany's second record city and by many measures its most consistent. The Schanzenviertel and St. Pauli neighbourhoods carry a dense corridor of shops — Groove City, Otaku, Zardoz, Selectshop Frisbee, Michelle Records — covering house, techno, disco, indie, jazz, and deep second-hand.
The city's port history means imports moved through here for decades, and the second-hand stock reflects it — American jazz and soul pressings sit alongside German krautrock originals at prices that still make sense. Golden Pudel and Uebel & Gefährlich handle the night listening.

Deep, curated jazz, soul, funk, hip-hop — one of the finest small shops in Germany.
Rock, punk, indie, prog — Hamburg's serious second-hand wall since the 80s.
The big generalist — new releases, second-hand, all genres. The city's default first stop.
Curated new releases, dance, indie — the taste-maker counter for the corridor.
