THE 46 RECORD SHOPS
Denver runs one of the West's fastest-growing scenes.
Denver's record scene has grown quietly and quickly. Twist & Shout on Colfax anchors the city — a warehouse-scale new-and-used floor with in-stores nearly every week. Wax Trax (since 1975) covers the collector end. Recollect Records, Angelo's and a growing cluster in RiNo fill in around.
The dig is heavy on rock, punk, jam-band and psychedelic — plus a serious Western reggae and dub catalogue. The Bluebird Theater and Ogden handle the nightlife. Compact scene, easy weekend, low prices for the West Coast bracket.
THE FIVE ROOMS
The Denver flagship — warehouse-scale new-and-used, in-stores most weeks. The city's default first stop.
Since 1975. The collector counter — deep rock, jazz, soul, first pressings, rarities.
Curated second-hand — sharp on soul, funk, jazz. The tastemaker's counter.
Deep second-hand generalist — bins for days, priced honestly, the digger's favourite.
The newer RiNo-corridor shop — indie, dance, hip-hop, in-stores and gigs.
